Time for a mini-rant. Today's topic: cell phone companies. First, I think cell phones are fine. I have no real big problems with them. However, it is time for service companies to GET A FREAKIN' CLUE.
1. Cingular Wireless - the wireless company that believes in the value of self expression. Beg your pardon? "Be different! Give US money instead of our competitors!" And as if that moronic slogan wasn't enough, they've come up with such overpowering statements of stupidity as "Silence is weird." However, their (lack of) talent for creating catch phrases doesn't stop there. They steal lines from famous people, famous DEAD people, to promote their service. Hear that constant spinning and whirring sound? That's Martin Luther King, Jr. spinning in his grave after hearing part of his "I have a dream" speech used in a freaking WIRELESS COMMERCIAL FOR SERVICE PROMOTION.
2. Alltell Wireless. These brilliant folks have a commercial which show people chained to various things as they walk around...computers, copy machines, washer and dryers, etc, basically saying we're all tied down to our tasks. What better way to solve this problem than by getting a cell phone! Yes! Having your boss being able to contact you whenever and wherever they want is a brilliant way to break the chains that bind you to work. Cell phones are NOT an escape from tasks. They force you to spend MORE time connected to what you dislike...
Thank you, that's it for Cy's Rant-o-Rama Vol. 1.

Look for Cy's Rant-o-Rama Vol. 2, coming to a blogspot near you.
